Marshall Communications will work closely with the city’s leadership to create a Marshall Plan®, the agency’s trademarked marketing communications plan.

“We are thrilled about the opportunity to work with the city of Saco as the city envisions its future. Our extensive work on branding for other municipalities in the state makes this partnership a perfect match. Saco is a great city that has a thriving business community and is a wonderful place to live. The city provides an outstanding quality of life through exceptional city services, and local attractions including beautiful beaches, and an attractive downtown and Main Street, as well as one of the top school systems in Maine. Saco has so much to offer and we are looking forward to supporting the city as it continues to build on its tradition of success and attract even more economic development opportunities for entrepreneurs, larger corporations, and business owners,” said Nancy Marshall, CEO of Marshall Communications.

Incorporated in 1867, the city of Saco is conveniently located 20 minutes from Portland and 90 minutes north of Boston. The city has a population of more than 19,000, making it one of the ten most populated cities in Maine. The city values progress while maintaining the charm of a classic New England city, including a historic Main Street, which is lined with a wide variety of businesses ranging from medical offices to boutiques, legal firms, and restaurants. In addition to a downtown shopping area, the city is home to many annual festivals and community events organized in partnership with Saco’s Main Street Maine organization known as Saco Main Street.

“The agency’s experience working with municipalities, as well as Maine-based organizations and companies, is exactly the type of partner we were looking for to work with our talented city staff. We’re excited to partner with a Maine-based agency that has a wide range of knowledge in public relations, marketing, and web development that will help our city thrive for years to come,” said Kevin Sutherland, city administrator for the city of Saco.

In the next three months, Marshall Communications will work with the city’s leadership to create The Marshall Plan®, a customized three-year strategic public relations and marketing plan. The plan will address the city’s goals, which include ideas to improve public outreach and engagement, compete with other cities in the northeast to attract and retain businesses, and promote the downtown area and its recreational programs and assets, as well as tourism. The plan will also feature citywide marketing strategies and branding ideas.

Marshall Communications has created similar strategic public relations and marketing plans in the past for Brewer, Lewiston, Madison and Sanford.
