Create a "21 Word Salute"
I recently attended two days of media training with Tripp Frohlichstein, a brilliant media pro from St. Louis who helps his clients master the art of interview skills. His business is called "Media Masters."
Tripp advises his clients to create a 21 word statement which you can use to convey your key message through the media to your publics. The message should say what you do, and then three points on how you do it. For example, "U.S. Cellular serves its customers by providing the latest in wireless communications technology, professional customer service, and flexible rate plans." That's 21 words. You might use that at the end of an interview with a reporter when they say, "Do you have anything else to add?" At that point, you would say, yes, as a matter of fact, "here is my 21 word salute."
Do you have a concise 21 word message about your business? I am working on NMC's 21 word salute and I will share it in my PR Tips in coming weeks. In the meantime, let me know if you develop yours. I'll be eager to hear it!
