Nancy Marshall Communications specializes in developing a strategic, long-term approach to marketing and communications.
Your goal might be to enhance the image of your organization, create awareness, or increase sales. We work with our clients to define the objectives of the communications program and then to create and implement a detailed plan with measurable results to achieve your goals.
If your organization is trying to raise its profile within Maine, publicize itself from Maine to the nation and the world, or raise the profile of a national organization within Maine, then call us.
Nancy and her staff work with a team of experienced professional copy writers, photographers, graphic designers, and other marketing specialists with an emphasis on producing quality work.
When it comes to creating a marketing program that gets results, with ongoing reporting systems and budgetary tracking, the NMC team has the experience for the job.
NMC's core competency is creating and implementing strategic public relations programs. We prefer to start by creating one of our Marshall Plans to lay the foundation of the program. This planning process allows us to clearly define the key messages, the target demographics, the targeted media outlets and the tools needed to get the right messages to the right people.
We use a combination of outreach tools to reach the target media. These tools include, but are not limited to:
- News Releases
- Press Kits
- Press Conferences for newsworthy announcements
- Media Tours
- Desk-side Visits with the media
- Pitch Letters with appropriate follow-up
- Special Events
- Guest Opinion Columns
- Editorial Board Visits
All of these outreach methods are implemented strategically to continuously convey your organization's messages to the public through the media.
We also produce the following marketing media for communicating to your targeted publics:
- Printed Newsletters
- Electronic Newsletters
- Websites with search engine optimization
- Opinion Leader Letters
As part of our ongoing PR work for Saddleback Ski Resort, we issued a press release about Rachel Cutler, a high school honor roll student who had earned a discounted "Peak Pass" at the resort. We sent the release along with this photo, which also featured Fran Mullin, executive director of Maine's WinterKids to the Boston Globe and it resulted in a full-length feature story, along with this photo, in the sports section.
We have a strong track record of pitching to niche audiences through niche media. For example, when telling the story of Maine tourism, we pitch stories about skiing to the ski media, about family vacations to the women's magazine and family media; and about art and architecture to the historic and lifestyle media.
We don’t believe that one story fits all.
We know which media people are interested in certain types of stories and we know how they want to be contacted. We take great care to keep detailed info on our media contacts in our database so we’re prepared when we pick up the phone to contact them.

Account Executives on the NMC Staff are professionals in PR, Marketing and the Web. Greg Glynn came to NMC after working as Vice President of Communications for the Portland Pirates, a professional hockey team in Portland, Maine.
NMC worked with the Maine Beer & Wine Distributors Association to partner with Maine Olympian Julia Clukey to raise awareness about underage drinking PSA campaign.
