NMC, based in Maine’s state capital of Augusta, was founded in 1991 by The PR Maven™, Nancy Marshall. Nancy began her career in public relations at Maine Public Television and then went on to join the marketing and public relations team at luxury boat builder Hinckley Yachts. Her next PR role was at Sugarloaf, where she helped put the resort on the map as a premier skiing destination. Driven by an entrepreneurial spirit and ready to take on a new challenge, Nancy then decided to strike out on her own. With Sugarloaf as her first client, she began building her fledgling PR business while earning a master’s degree in business administration and raising two small boys with her husband, Jay.
Over the last 23 years, Nancy has grown NMC from its early days as a one-woman agency she operated out of her A-frame house, on the banks of the Carrabassett River near Sugarloaf, into one of the most highly-regarded and longest-operating communications firms in Maine.
The agency has enjoyed many long-standing client relationships over the time it has been in business, with some having spanned more than two decades. It has also helped generate widespread recognition and awareness for numerous organizations representing a great variety of industries including tourism, economic development, health care, the nonprofit sector, academia, law firms, information technology, custom home design, food and beverage, finance, banking, and utilities.
The cumulative skills and experience of the NMC team represents some of the best in the business. The agency thrives on surpassing clients' expectations while helping them identify and implement the perfect mix of marketing strategies to attain their business development goals. Its approach to marketing and public relations strikes a healthy balance between technology and personal relationships to provide maximum value to clients, the news media, and its network of industry partners.
